Kenmore Washer

Hey guys I got one of the last belt drives and its a 80 series.I use it about 3 times a year as it is in a storage house (along with 3 more washers and dryers). I used it sat. and tried to change water leveal and it didnt want to turn but did and i filled it and trew in the curtains. I went today over and cleaned up the place and took rags down to her to wash and filled with water but no spin agitate. The timmer does advance. Does anybody have any ideas? I will get the model # when i go over with flashlight as the basement isto dark to read them.... Thanks Chazz

If it doesn't drain either, it's probably the belt. Otherwise, I would suspect the solenoids (the wig-wag). If memory serves me, Those machines use a current to move the transmission to the correct position for it's respective cycle. Your's is probably stuck in neutral. Hope this helps.

Thanks guy. She has a newer beltso i guess its the wig wag. Sad to say she is going to the crusher on friday along with a nice some other old appliances....

Hey! Isn't there someone near wvkenmore to save his older belt-Drive Kenmore Washer and possibly even whatever other Appliances he has, from going to the Crusher?

There certainly enough of you out there that have some extra Vintage Appliance "Rainy Day" Funds, that you can bring out to save these pour Appliances.

Have a Heart, you certainly would do it for someone else that has been in the Club for quite a long time and of the particular "Peer-Group" of persons.

If I lived closer, I would certainly contact Chazz and see what he had and what he wanted for them, to save them and give them another good length of Life again.

I second that. The solenoids aren't too hard to replace. Maybe someone else can fix it.

Not worth fixing

This is a old junker, it has huge amounts of rust on the bottom and can not be used in a room with good floors. The self level legs are long gone and the only good part on the head is the timer(which I will keep for its another one)

Thank you for clarifying the reason for your Kenmore going to the Crusher, if it would cost too much to Repair. Can you take any other Parts off of it to use for future Repair{s} of other Kenmore/Whirlpool Washers for yourself or if possible one of us might need and could purchase from you?

Im not sure what might be worth trying to get off. I had to flip her on the side to check belt as the bolts holding the rear cover are rusted and rounded off and will not budge. The timmer is good and going to be re used . the water leval switch is bad and water temp switch is ify.
She has had a rough life. First owners hated them and traded them in to a friend who owne a appliance store. He then gave them to his Aunt who used them a few years and passed away. they then went to he daughter who used them 3 or 4 years. I then got them when I bought her house. They then were used by my tenets for about 10 years. The washer has had 1 belt and no other repairs and matching dryer had heat elemnt and a roller since 1982.
