Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I think the 206's were the only model that had the black poly agitator coupled with a turquoise lint filter.

My mother said "it was making a noise and I didn't want to mess with it". So, she replaced it with another Maytag. Told me about it after the fact.

i hope she didnt get a god aweful new maytag which is just another stupid rebadged whirlpool dd, i smell a monopoly

Anybody want a 206 console with working timer/buttons, ect and perfect uncut wiring harness?

I grew up with that exact model, except ours did not have the faux pilot light fixture. It lasted almost 27 years from Sept 20 of 1972 until Aug 17 of 1999 without a single repair. A timer was replaced, but otherwise it ran smoothly. We got rid of it because the transmission was leaking oil, and it was taking longer and longer to empty. Finally the interior drain hose sprung a leak and that was it. If only I had known then that people collected and restored old washers I would have encouraged my parents to sell it to a collector.

Have a good one,
James

The good news is that there are plenty of old Maytags out there, and the ones for sale can be had for a song. Sadly, us Frigidaire collectors are quite a bit less fortunate.

Kenmore? I understand!

I went into a used appliance/parts dealer once, when I needed a pump for my 1967 Kenmore wringer washer. He pulled out the book and quoted me a price. I noticed it was a Maytag book. I pointed this out to him. He proceeded to tell me that Kenmore/Whirlpool never made wringer washers! What an expert!! (actually, what an IDIOT!)
