I love coffee and have only tasted coffee made with a Keurig twice, both times it was weak, not hot enough and a big disappointment. We make our coffee with a Melitta #2 filter pour over, since David only drinks one cup in the morning. It’s the fastest, least expensive way to make one cup of coffee. You can make it as strong as you like and the cleanup is minimal and no waste. All you need is a tea kettle, Melitta pour over filter holder and a box of #2 filters, plus ground coffee. No extra clutter on the counter, the Melitta stores in the cupboard with the cups.
Unfortunately, I’ve been plagued by acid reflux for 40 years, and last year I went to just 2 cups of coffee a day, one in the morning and one after dinner. But two weeks ago I had to give that up too. The PPI, Pantoprazole I’ve been taking for 18 months was making my arthritis worse, which is a side effect of all these meds, giving me excruciating pain in both of my arms and shoulders.
So, 3 weeks ago I switched to Green tea, in the morning and after dinner. I can’t drink Black tea because it stains my teeth so badly it makes me look like I’ve never seen a tooth brush. Also, I’m taking Famotidine, an acid reducer for the acid reflux. I haven’t felt better in years, no more pain in my arms and shoulders and don’t miss the coffee at all, which surprises me, since I’ve been drinking black coffee daily since I was 12 years old. And since I’ve stopped drinking coffee my teeth are stain free, the Green tea doesn’t stain.
I say thumbs down on the Keurig.
