We have a Kirby G4 vacuum cleaner. This past weekend, there was a posting on my local Next Door site for 9-packs of genuine Kirby "Micron Magic" hepa filtration bags, free for the taking in a box on the poster's front lawn. I drove over, and after examining them I took two packs.

When I got them home and gave the packaging a closer look, I realized that I misread the verbiage about which machines they fit. They're for models G-SIX and Ultimate G. Kirby's part number is 197301.

My last bag was on the machine, and it was full. I had kept the packaging for the last pack I had bought. For those, the Kirby part number is 197294. They're "Micron Magic," filtration bags. Not hepa. Other than that, both types of bags appear to be the same. Maybe my machine is too old for Kirby to reference it anymore?

So, I put one of the 197301 bags on the machine and it performed normally. Is there any reason why I shouldn't continue to use these free bags I got? 18 of them would last me quite a while. There were a total of four packs, but I didn't want to be greedy.

if it fits, use them, there have been plenty of times I have cross referenced bags from one manufacturer to fit another totally different machine....same goes for belts...

HEPA ones may give you a better filtration, which can be good and bad, as they sometimes can clog faster....

The newer HEPA bags can fit your cleaner-they are more expensive and perform BETTER than the paper bags. The paper bags clog more quickly than the synthetic cloth HEPA one-white in color.Use the paper ones you got for the right price-than go to HEPA-believe me they are better!!!You can pack more dirt in them than the paper bags. You did get a good find-they should last you awhile.

The Micron Magic bags are HEPA rated. The main difference between the seven layer Micron bags and the cloth like white bags is they paper bags will clog sooner, and are not as large. The cloth like bag tends to breath easier and thus maintain the suction much longer.

Downside, they can pick up a stink sometimes before they are full. You can try adding about a tablespoon of activated charcoal to the bag to help increase their lifetime without funk.
