HI Phil

Hi Phil, I have a 1978 Kirby Classic with the red bag. I had to replace the fan once too because of a rock that I was vacuuming up from the floor of the car which broke one of the fan blades causing it to vibrate. I have also replaced the beater bar due to a loose bearing. All is well now and it is my everyday machine. Cheers and happy vacuuming. Gary

Kirby Heritage

heres the Heritage in all its 1982 glory
found out its from 82 because i looked at the bottom of the machine, thought it was 81 because of the label on the bag
not a great photo but it will do for me for now, if you want a pic of it at another angle or anything just say, once i get the legend mk2 from my dads then im hoping to clean them both up to make them all shiny again :)

I have two Kirby. A Classic III and Dual Sanitronic 50.

These are the first two I ever had. Now they are the only two I have and probably ever will.

I have had several: G3, G4, Heritage II.

I just don't collect stuff so unless it gets used, I usually don't keep it.

Here's the Classic III.

This is a good vacuum. Interestingly, it was in the basement when it flooded 6 inches of water. I left the vaccum as it was for months. Several months later, I tested it to see if it worked, and it did! After sitting in water! All it needed was a new belt, new brushroll, and a good cleaning.

I converted it to the Legend II disposable bag setup and installed a Heritage 4 row brush.

Here's the Dual Sanitronic 50. It runs good and it's a nice little machine.

I have converted it to the Tradition disposable bag system.

At this moment I have this Kirby d80. I had it completely remanufactured with brand new everything. New motor and all.

Here is with the nozzle removed.

I'm not much of a Kirby guy but I have to say this is one of the nicest Kirby vacuums I have ever seen

I have a Kirby D80 like washernoob (120v). This is shortly going to a collector as I never use it and it is gathering dust in a cupboard. I have a recon G3 as my daily driver.

We have a G4 also my Mom purchased in appx. 1995 or 96. It's been a GREAT vaccum, I love it. She bought the shampoo kit with it. Which we do use once in a while. I'd post up a pic but I want to clean it up first.

Have never used the shampoo kit with our G4.  It strikes me as only intended for small areas.  The solution container is so small, on a whole room you'd be stopping to refill it many times.  Not practical, and certainly not capable of the deep cleaning an actual carpet cleaning machine could do.
