Hi all, we just bought a house and one of the appliances was a kitchen aid dishwasher, which I understand is the workhorse of dishwashers. At first it wouldn't drain each time, and would have to run another cycle to get it to drain. Now it won't drain at all. I've removed and checked all of what appear to be drain hoses. They are clear. I noticed in the tub of the washer are two holes. I know one is the drain...it has the spinner wheel which I suppose forces the water into the drain hose. This is at the three oclock position looking into the machine. At the nine oclock is another hole...it does have water in it...I was wondering if this might be the clean water input...I just don't know why it would come up through the bottom. I can post pics if needed.

Thanks alot.

Does the 18-series still have a unidirectional motor with drain solenoid and pressure switch for overfill protection?

If so, the 9 o'clock opening is probably for the pressure switch, and the drain problem could be the drain valve isn't working.

Water fill is from the left side of the tub, not from the bottom.

Wow, I broke something....after putting all the drainage hoses back together, I ran a cycle and now theres a big leak that seems to be coming from the seal between the motor and the tub...I don't know how that could have gotten loose unless it was where I was tugging drain hoses off and something shifted.

Thanks for the replies.

Rick
