I have a smallish hole in the blower housing. I can see the red hot heater element through it during the dry cycle.

It's not so bad that I feel like replacing it but is there a recommended repair to stabilize or keep it from getting worse? I'm sure this is pretty common and wondering what others have done. High heat paint or metal tape?

Rusted Heater Housing On A KDI-16

Cleaning the blower wheel with a toothbrush will help but it is still normal for the element to glow red.

You can remove the heater assembly and patch the hole by screwing a piece of metal over it or replacing the housing with a better one [ we have lots of good used ones around ].

You can also use it as is, Foil tape would not work as it gets too hot for the adhesive.
