Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

You know looking at the pic makes me wonder if the tank is shorter in height that the KDS18 and 20. Very interesting pic. I did notice that when I was working on the 17A that it was shorter...or maybe its me...

On the washability for the 17A...you might have to replace the wash arm support. That what i did and wow what a difference. I also put in a newer 4 way HydroSweep that cleans like no tomorrow.

wysiwyg

The 15 thru 17 series tanks were all the same size, but the 18 thru 23 were taller because they added the upper washarm and needed the clearance to still allow tall dishware in the bottom rack and be able to clear the washarm or china guard if so equipped. The commercial units followed right along with the doemstic ones, except that the WM5 tank, which is a 18 derivative, was made in Europe and served as the K/A machines in Europe and Australia. Hobart brought a modified version of that tank here for the commercial market here. Dumbed it down quite a bit for here. We just don't have the features they have on the European machines. Different market and products. Same goes for the other manufacturers as well.

KDS19 Series!

My family had a KDS19 for 25 years. The main reason a lot of people do not like them is because they had omitted the drying heater. The last rinse was always a sani rinse 150 degrees along with the first prerinse. The cycle time was somewhat longer and you needed to use jetdry to have dishes completly dry. It washed extremly well. This style dishwasher would work better in todays standards.

I concur!

I agree with Peter on how well the 19's washed with their longer cycles.I had one as my pot and pan washer and overflow machine in the garage until the drain valve shorted out and took out the timer.
Of course, I converted it to use the hot air dryer and man were those the dryest dishes I ever had. Even plastic ware came out dry!
