I googled "Hobart KDC-18" and found this forum. I have this model Kitchen-Aid dishwasher in my home. It probably was installed in the 70's? We have been in the home for 14 yrs now and the machine has started to make some really loud noises! I would rather repair than replace if possible! It has always made this loud quick squeal when starting, but recently even louder noises while running. It seems to be completing cycles and running fine but I am thinking something is going to go kaput soon.
Any suggestions about preemptive repair/maintenance? I am educating myself on dishwashers! Thanks for any suggestions.
