Ladies Drive Great distance for Phosphate dishwasher detergent

On CNN, it was NEWS TOPIC about the Ladies who were driving to another State for their Dishwasher Detergent, that had a phosphate Base...they could purchase by the case.....It was illegal in their area....They were experiencing horrible white film on everything coming out of the Dishwasher. So it is a problem and it is still legal in Northern Panhandle of West Virginia...SO far, but I cannot find any with Phosphates..What to do?

It is NOT illegal to use it in banned areas, just to sell it.

They could have bought some STPP and saved themselves some money. I have found that even Walmart's Great Value powder works reasonably well with STPP added.

CNN has provided a great service to the masses. I wonder how many people are spending money on repair calls due to sudden filming issues.

Forcing people to dump their old machines that don't perform well without phosphates and incur the unnecessary expense of a new machine that takes three hours to do the same job is not cool.

I'm sorry, I meant the extreme environmentalist may get on their high horse now this is on the news. It's funny now people have to use 2 or 3 times the detergent to get the same result(how is the saving resources)

20 Mule Team Borax

Try some 20 Mule Team Borax, It worked for me, When they took the phosphates out of the Finish powder I noticed it right away,white chalky residue on my clear dishes and on my black plastic cooking spoons, I found some old stock gel tabs and some tablets with phosphates, both same results, I'm glad I didn't buy the dozen or so they had, The Borax brought the Finish powder back to the great results I had before, I have a 90's Whirlpool TOL D/W It washes very fast so I set it on pots and pans put some Borax in the bottom and fill the prewash with detergent,I don't bother with the mainwash dispenser as it opens almost through the light wash cycle,what good is that, I don't use any rinse agent and everything comes out almost spot free. I found a place I can purchase Cascade Professional for a decent price. It has phosphates (and I have a hunch it has bleach in it too).

It cleans wonderfully, if not better than the old consumer Cascade with phosphates.

Institutional Cascade paired with a KitchenAid Custom 21 means clean dishes for me.

Yes - you can purchase institutional Cascade or Finish and it works like a charm! I got some at Gordon Food Service. You can usually find it online too.

If you have a food service supply place nearby, like a Gordon Food Service, try there. There's one about 10 miles from me, and they do have Cascade Professional.
