Last year, I aquired a Maytag 906 set and as it turns out, the entire bottom the the outer tub is completely rusted out. If anyone has a good tub or parts machine with one, I am interested, send me an e-mail.

Thanks in advance.

If the outer tub isn’t compromised, might be able to have the pinholes welded. That’s what I had to do to my Whirlpool In December of 2021.

It is Swiss cheese, I actually cut a significant amount of material out with a die grinder, may try welding in a patch panel, but it isn't worth the effort IMHO for something that can't be adequately rust proofed afterwards.

Since it’s comprised, probably had lots of bleach put through it many years ago. Bleach, lower end detergents really aren’t good for these older machines.

May have to get a later style of Dependable Care Maytag as a parts donor, don’t think Maytag made many changes other tub than going to a plastic tub ring around 1993/1994.

I wonder if Eugene/Lorain Furniture has any 80’s/early 90’s Maytags, may be able to locate one in his area.

I’m sure one will turn up, definitely a lot easier to find Maytags than a Whirlpool belt drive, especially a timer for one.

Yep, this is the old style inner/outer tub and tub cover with the band style clamp and seal. They are both the large capacity model. The bleach dispenser will not work with it but you could run a longer hose across the tub and modify it to fit the newer bleach nipple if it's that important. Otherwise, block off the bleach port on the new outer tub.

I would also use the newer inner tub if it's white. It's a hair deeper than the 06-08 models.

Someone here may want the suds saver parts off of the 9700, don't throw them away. I would also completely strip it of all useable parts and stash them away. Everything is slowly becoming obsolete.

other possible donor i’ve come across is an A212 (1989). It says large capacity but it doesn’t say “extra large “ like the A806 fourth button. I already made a mistake getting a donor that only had a standard capacity tub, but it turned out to be an A208, so wasn’t a bad machine to have…now I have two different size retro machines:)

Yep, 2 size tubs from 1956-2006 for the helical models. The 200 series are all standard capacity models.

An external picture will be fine, the lid opening size is a dead giveaway.
