Charles,
That is definitely a 1978 Kenmore 70-series large capacity washer. I am sure it is sporting a Penta-Swirl under the lid as long as it has it's original agitator. I love how it has its consumer checklist on the side still.
We were talking about these machines in a recent thread, and I mentioned how the '78s had for the slow speed cycle a "Knit" in one box with a tiny 'delicate' at the 6-minute mark. The '77s had Knit and Delicate separated, and the '76s said "Knit-Delicate" in large lettering. This was the only difference between the three years on the entry level 70-series.
Nice machine for 50 bucks, the porcelain top is just gleaming. But, there is a good bit of rust along the bottom of the cabinet, which is an idicator of a moist basement. Looks like there is some under the rim of the top too.
Nick -
That is a fairly rare 1981 200 series plastic top large capacity washer. You should get that one! It would be a different addition to your cool collection. This model came with a Penta-Vane agitator. I have only come across a few of these, one which I have, and one at the Glendale, AZ junkyard.
