Hi, I'm Virginia & I'm addicted to vintage mixers! LOL. My latest quest was for the blender attachment for the Sunbeam Mixmaster. I finally got one, it arrived today. It's in pristine condition, looks hardly used. It came with the original box & when I opened it the original cash register reciept fell out! I couldn't believe it. I just had to come here and show you all, because you're THE ONLY ONES WHO UNDERSTAND! LOL. Hubby is supportive but doesn't get it, although he admitted the warring blendor (I posted a while back) was pretty cool. I think he's just glad I'm not into washers! I now have a mixmaster model 12, a turquoise model 11, a kitchenaid 4 C, a Kithcenaid K45, Waring blendor F02, and now the blender attachment for the mixmasters. I think I'd better stop for now!

Yes, Virginia ... the folks here understand!!

Virginia ... those are beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I love it that you even got the original sales receipt!! That just adds to the whole experience, huh?

I love the look of vintage mixers; again, something about 1950's home and hearth that is so comforting. :-) My mother bought my grandmother a Hamilton Beach mixer in the early 1950's (my grandmother's one and only mixer ever) before my parents were married in 1954 and after my grandmother died, my mother brought it home with her and that's the mixer we used growing up. I still have it and it runs great! I bring it out at Christmas and make my sugar cookie and spritz dough with it; it just wouldn't be Christmas baking with my Hamilton Beach! I still have just the small bowl; the big bowl broke years ago.

I especially like the Mixmasters

Geoff, you probably could find another large mixing bowl, I know the sunbeam bowls are frequently on Ebay.
The white & black model 12 is exactly like the one my mother used when I was small & would help her make cookies so that's my favorite. Dad made her get rid of it back in the 80's when she got her Kitchenaid stand mixer. (Why would anyone need more than one mixer!) But years later her elderly neighbor gave her another one just like it which she gave to me when I got my first place. Then she found my Kitchenaid K45 at a thirift shop for $10 complete with the meat grinder. She bought it for the meat grinder & gave me the mixer. The waring blendor & the turquoise model 11 mixmaster I got from ebay. I now have the large turquoise bowl also, which isn't in the picture. Mom found the Kitchenaid 4C recently at another thrift shop & called me to see if I wanted it. It was filthy but cleaned up beautifully. So I guess it's really all Mom's fault! HA!

Dear Virginia-

Thank you so much for sharing your mixers and blenders with us!

I love the Sunbeam blender attachment.

In one of my all time favourite episodes of "Two Fat Ladies," the late Jennifer Patterson uses one of these, and she called it "wonderfully Heath Robinson." (Heath Robinson is the British equivalent of Rube Goldberg. If you don't know who Rube Goldberg is, you are either too young or insuffciently odd to be a close friend to me.)

Thanks again,

Lawrence/Maytagbear

Love the mixers Virgina. I have a few old Sunbeams and I have two of the blender jars but not the gear attachment yet, just waiting for one to turn up in a thrift store.
BTW today I lucked out and found one of those Waring drink mixers, the all one piece little plastic blender, in a sunny yellow still with the decals on the front. I'd been wanting one of those for awhile and there it was waiting for me at Goodwill. The other half took our digi-cam on his trip so I can't post a pic of it yet.. plus another couple of weird things. One being an interesting hair care product from Braun which is sure to amuse.

Oooh

Did someone say "hair care product"?? Can't wait, Pete.

Love the mixers, Virginia. I have a chrome Mixmaster that makes a mean sugar-free angel food cake!

Wow, a model 12 with an all-white base. Another interesting variation I've not seen until now. Used my model 10 tonight go make lemon bars, brownies, and chocolate chip cookies for a luncheon tomorrow. :-)

Hi Virginia,

That is great - I had a few back in the 80's. NATO troops moving back home left their stuff behind in military housing here - unbelievable the treasures out of the fifties which got tossed out.
That transmission has a "sacrificial" pinion to protect the mechanism. I can't draw too well, but sooner or later you will accidently get a wooden spoon caught in the mixer or two walnuts will jam or whatever. Then, instead of ruining everything, this little part will snap. Take a few pictures of the innards of the blender transmission now - then when this little rod gives its life to protect the rest you will know which it is and be able to replace it. I used hardwood pins which were just the right - thin- diameter. Usually only had this problem every three or four years.
Gave all mine to collectors years ago -
(oh, and while you are at it - there is a good chance the grease in that transmission is no longer lubricating anything. You might want to clean it and replace. Fifty-two years! Wow!)

You know what Marty, I think you're right! One cool thing I saw recently and I don't know if you saw the thread, but Petek has an AVOCADO GREEN model 12! I've never seen that before, but he lives in Canada and I'm wondering if the model 12 ran a bit longer there.

Geoff, you should be able to find a large bowl. I wish I'd known before I moved, I had at least one extra I would have given Robert to give you or whatever. Look on Ebay or sales, I'm sure you'll come across one. Is yours a model G?

No Virginia, there is no sanity clause (requred to sign up h

I mean look at all us nuts who preceeded you! *LOL*

WELCOME.

How can we not love you already based on your collection?
(Oh an pre-wired cable television at the kitchen counter).

NICE STUFF!
