So here's the newest arrival to the family. Beautiful 1966 Kenmores! Alphabetic washing at its finest! I wish I had a bigger room for my machines in the house, but the renovated pool house is coming along and should be showroom ready by the mid-August. (I've got room in the old pool house for nine machines!)

These machines work great, I quieted the fabric softener solenoid thanks to advice from this website. And they are so clean, not a spot of rust anywhere, inside or out. Still working on the dryer console light.

Kenmores, especially Lady Kenmores have always been my favorites!  They are just so beautiful.  Great set you have there!

Open for business

I love the dryer's sensor that states "Solid State" -- still not sure exactly how the dryer's cycles work. The main dial is numbered and categorized "dry", "normal", and "damp." I finally was able to get the dryer to turn off after the clothes were dry by moving the dial to the lowest "damp" position. Does anyone out there have a manual for this machine? (and no comment on the missing floor peel & stick tiles -- they came apart because I'm constantly moving machines in and out of the laundry area!!)

Todd, I would set the dryer at level #6 and see if they are dry.  that would be the least of the normal dry since it's right next to the damp moisture level. 

 

I just love black rotoswirls with the scrubber caps.

These are beautiful. Congratulations! The white porcelain and chrome look in beautiful condition.

I need to try and quiet down the solenoids on my 66 LK washer. I'm glad you mentioned it because I never knew it was possible.

Congratulations on getting the set home. They look positively beautiful in their new environment. My next door neighbors had them arranged the way you do as well. They had a finished basement, and they had the washer and dryer behind folding louvered doors. I always thought the washer was so special with the white tub. Most Kenmores I saw were from that general era were 600s and 500s which had the speckled baskets, so I thought this 800 model was really special. It still is.

Great set! Your washer sports an ever-so-rarely-seen separate speed control, even. Cool. I've always been fond of the scrubber cap, too. We had one in the same color on our 1960 Model 80, although it was atop what's been referred to as a "preggers" Roto-Swirl rather the the sleeker, ribbed Roto on your '66. Congrats!

Nice finds, my grandmother had that same dryer with a newer kenmore washer until 03From what I remember the auto dry could be somewhat out of whack do to age. Number 5 was always the setting she used. It would dry in about 45 mins with a large load.
