Ah, The Kelvinator. Ken, the little metal knob sticking up out of the top is the out of balance re-set lever. Since this is a time line machine, there is no way to mechanically 'pop' the timer out if it were to go into an out-of-balance situation. So instead, the lever would pop up, the house wife would re-distribute, and she would push back down on the lever, and away it goes!
Bob, the perm press button is weird. I haven't played with it too much, but it seems to add a some cold over flow rinses at the end of the wash and rinse cycle. Once the machine is up and running I can do some more investigation.
Glad everyone enjoys this machine. Certainly is a fun one!
