Thanks Austin

Hi Austin, This auction worked out perfect because the seller's Mother-in-law lives 45 minutes away from me and His son is going to visit his grandmother the first week of September so he will deliver it to me so It doesn't have to been shipped. I did give him 60 dollars for his trouble and fuel. But I can wait til I get it. But boy some of those vintage Lawnmowers go for big bucks. I was bidded on one last night and thought for sure maxing out at 210.99, I would have won it but boy was I suprised the final bid was 256.00. this is it in my link

i looked at the pictures of the "Snappin turtle" mower again-and saw a lawn service in Florida-in the clearwater area-this was during the mid to late 60's-they were using mowers similar to this-and had the "turtle Head" front ornement. They also had the horizontal shaft Briggs motors, the rear wheel self propelled mechanism-and the skid under the blade at the front-they were painted a green color.loved watching them being used in the morning while waiting to catch my bus to school.those mowers did a very nice cutting job-and no "ruts" in the lawn from wheels.Unfortunately---due to the newer safety regulations-the open front decks on these had to go-same with the blade skid.Would be neat to have one of these. They cut so easily-the user had the motor run just above idle speed-like a Kee mower.

Hilda Ogdens Qualcast Panther!!!

The latest flymos are easy to use, I just got a new vision 330, it floats enough to make it easy to move around, this one has a vac nozzle on the back, so as it cuts n mulches the grass it blows it into the cage on top, the nozzle is great for edges ...I cut all my edges first and then as I`m mowing pull the mower backwards to suck up all the cutting etc....these also have rollers at the front for steerage and producing stripes etc...

BUT, like old washers they need care & respect, damp n wet grass does build up underneath really affecting the hover capability, so I always turn off, turn mower over and scoop any grass away, then off we go with full hover power, I`m amazed the number of people I see using them and they cant move it, you turn it over and its crudded with dry months old grass....

This was the most popular mower in its day here...The Qualcast Panther....my Grandad had one that he used to take apart every year and maintain and give it a lick of paint in his own colour of Blue...

The link is to a local museum which is just fab, The pick is of "Hilda Ogdens" Panther.

Enjoy, BUT, turn your volume DOWN, its very high nearly spilt my tea over the keyboard!!!...LOL
