Leaking Filter Flo

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The top of the machine is the top of the tub. There is a simple rubber gasket that goes around it, sealing the top and tub. Piece of cake, if that is what it is.

If not, it could be the tub boot, another easy fix (if the bolts come out easy)

If not, it could be the pump (I had a couple in the laundromat that only leaked when the motor reversed for drain/spin). Yet another easy fix.

i have a 1980s filter flo, i noticed that when i wash a large load it leaks a little during spin by the front left leg, i looked at the top gasket and it DOES need to be replaced, but mine is in my basement so its ok if it leaks a little.

another thing it could be is the tub boot at the bottom, in the filter flo's the outer tub does NOT move, so, the inner tub and the trans move with the boot, the boot wobbles with the tub and acts as a shock absorber in spin cycle, it is possible the boot has some cracks, and when it is in spin and wobbling it is leaking.

Yes, yes, yes and...

Filter flo's have an overflow valve at the top of the outer tub that will siphon off the throw water if it's very vigorous or, even more likely, if there's a little something in the flush hole at the bottom partially clogging the drain. There are so many easy possibilities for this one we should probably contact the seller and be good samaritains.
