The Oster that we use in our camper has sprung a pretty bad leak in the spout area. Anybody know if these can be fixed? It's a dandy percolator, and I'd hate to have to retire it.
If the leak is in a non-load bearing area, aquarium grade silicone/food-grade silicone seal will fix it.
Has to be that grade and the surface has to be absolutely de-greased.
If the leak is load bearing, food-grade epoxy, after through curing covered completely on the inside with food-grade silicone seal. Again, total and complete cleanliness is a must.
Stainless steel surfaces are easy to seal if properly oil-free.
I would say, no, non-load bearing and, yes, you can clean all that oil out. There are coffee pot cleaners you can buy, but rubber gloves, elbow grease and patience will do it, too.
