We're doing a little update of our kitchen and want to replace our 91 Maytag Jet Clean dishwasher (someone can have it for free when the time comes if interested) with a new stainless steel LG dishwasher, model # LDS5811. Does anyone out there have an LG or has anyone heard anything good or bad about them. From what I've seen they are well liked, but I'd rather get an opinion from you guys. Thanks... Jim

Jim, they are definitely cool machines. A new design for LG, different than their other offerings outside of the US. this one is full dimensions just like US machines, not 2 inches shorter in depth. TCox6912 & I are both lusting after them, sorry it took a hurricane for him to possibly now consider it.

I've seen acouple of people online who have bought them and are pleased. I did see one review in Epinions on this series and their motor failed after 2 weeks. Otherwise they loved the performance and capacity. Personally, I wouldn't let one perion's bad motor issue put a damper on the thought. Other brands have quirky failures too, if not DOA.

Have you downloaded the user manual and looked at cycle tmies yet, they are a bit long, even in today's long dishwasher cycle theme. But, I love the design and the 3-speed/wash intensity motor as well as the abilikty to add an extra rinse. And I love the mega flexible racking too. I gotta quit drooling, I almost need a cigarette LOL. Bob

Bob, Thanks for the info... no, I haven't dowloaded the users manual, but I will take a look at it, although I doubt longer cycle times will sway me. I do like the look and the styling of the LG's, I REALLy like the fully integrated one with cycle window, but now we are talking a little out of my price range. I guess I'm more of a traditionalist when it come to being able to see the button and the lights!

LG Dishwasher

Hi, New Jersey neighbor Jim. I have a friend that is a manager in PC Richards in Edison, NJ. He claims that their dishwashers are very good and they are priced a lot cheaper than Bosch and Siemens. One of the many things that are good about the LG is that this machine has a self cleaning food disposer as oppposed to other European machines that you have to clean yourself. I have the LG Model 2032 washing machine and love it. It you have any other questions, please let me know.

Ray

Hey neighbor Ray.... the not having to clean the food disposer thing is very nice.. I had a Miele in my last place, and I found that annoying, plus I thought the dishwasher always smelled if you didn't leave it open a bit... so far it looks pretty promising for the LG... although I think I will take out the extended warranty on it just to be safe
