I know I read somewhere in a manual that some manufacturer requires the user to get their dryer serviced every 5 years to prevent lint buildup, though not sure if that was LG or Whirlpool.
But anyways, don't think that lawsuit would go far.
If the dryer follows the regulations on fire safety there is not much going to happen.
Dryers are a known fire hazard and it is easy for the manufacturer to put up a pretty decent case for it being more then likely user error in most cases.
Too much variables that can cause something like that and proofing the safety of a design is pretty simple for something like that...
