Has anyone tried this powder?

I think that it removes stains well and it doesn't have a strong pungent scent. However, I find that it does not dissolve fully, leaving white powdery specks on the laundry. If you try and use it for handwashing, the powdery specks float!

The cardboard box seems to be more robust than Procter & Gamble's boxes.

Any idea which company makes it?

I was wondering why the zeolites float, as other makers - P&G and Henkel - go out of their way to make their zeolites more of a very fine powder, which tends to rinse away better.

Anyway, I'm nearly finished the box, so it's back to Daz again.

Formil Marseille

I often use the other type added with soap to wash whites @ hi temps. It dissolves well just since 75°C to boilwash, @ 60°C I have to restart the rinse routine even with the vintage waterhog W780

Powdered detergents aren't the best for coloured/dark fabrics.
Liquid are better, even washers manuals reccomend it to avoid residues on darks

Lessive avec Savon de Marseille

Is really something of a joke on the consumer.

Persil amoung many other European detergents already contains a small amount of soap in all powdered and many liquid formulas, about 5%. So what the makers have done is change the scent (usually to some ghastly citronella based scent), and perhaps change the type of soap to palm oils.

True and pure SdM is made from no less than 72% olive oil by French law, although there are cheaper palm oil based versions. The white Savon de Marseille soaps are palm oil based and the green olive oil.

Le Chat,Spuma di Sciampagna and countless others also sell soap chips made from Savon de Marseilles, and they are pure soaps with normally some sort of builder and or surfactant thrown in to deal with hard water conditions.

Thank You!

Oh have had that site book marked for a long time! *LOL*

Actually prefer "Blanco Puro" over the soap based detergents and soap flake offerings. Though SdiS's enzyme liquid Marsgila based detergent isn't that bad.

Now if one wants a really "stinky" scent on laundry, try PAGLIERI Felce Azzurra Weichspüler

Spuma di Sciampagna

Marseille soap flakes mousse Champagne Contain:

Sodium tallowate R Sodium tallow R
Sodium palm kernelate VV Sodium palm kernel VV
Aqua Aqua
Sodium bicarbonato VV Sodium bicarbonate VV
Sodium chloride VV Sodium chloride VV
Parfum Parfum
Tetrasodium etidronate V Tetrasodium Etidronate V
Citronellol G Citronellol G
Geraniol G Geraniol G
Limonene G Limonene G
Linalool G Linalool G

As you can see not a whiff of SdeM, but plain soap (plam oil based), baking soda and salt. These are preservatives, then scent and some essential oils (more scent).

Biancopuro liquid mousse Champagne Contains:
Hydrogen peroxide VV Hydrogen peroxide VV
Coco-betaine V Coco-Betaine V
Sodium Laureth Sul fate G Sodium Laureth do Sul G
Alcohol ethoxylate (approvato) Alcohol ethoxylate (adopted)
Potassium Citrate VV Potassium Citrate VV
Parfum Parfum
Citric acid VV Citric acid VV

So we have soap, oxygen bleach, surfactants, more surfactants, water softener preserves, perfume and more water softeners.

Perhaps the best thing about both is neither contain bluing agents.

Have never really understood the French/European thing about doing laundry in automatic washing machines with soap, Savon de Marseille or otherwise. I mean soaps create huge amounts of froth, and gunk up a washing machine, especially front loaders. I mean it is one thing to be "Green", but I don't know about this one.

the curious, odd thing

Both Felce Azzurra and Spuma di Sciampagna mainly were (and are) body care products as bath/shower foam, liquid soap, shampoo , then they started doing laundry products with the very same scents.
