I thought washing machine lint filters were a gimmick to rope buyers in.

I have owned a GE Filter Flo twice (1959 and 1977) but mostly used Maytags and they hardly qualifie as an effective filtering system..

I am 55 and have yet to say lint in laundry has ever been an issue or even noticed.

I assumed the dryer removed the majority.

Maytag lint filters are extremely effective, it's just that the older Maytags were gentle and didn't rough up the clothes. If you have a couple furry roomates like me, you would see just how effective the Maytag filters are.

Lint Balls II

I lived a farm with horses, cows, dogs and cats as a kid and knew that experience with lint, hair and soil.

Until 2002, I had dogs, an Irish Setter, 2 Australian Shephards, a Border Collie and a Dalmation, four kids, a wife, a couple cats, tons of company and I myself have a fur coat, but I wash that in the shower.

Hair was never an issue, in laundry, then or now.

Its not that I haven't tried or laid my bare to receive. Hair and lint have always rejected me.

If I recall the linting issue was with a Duet, which would be more an issue of the ratio of water to fabric, eh?

Subject drift that should go elsewhere since it deals with a

When I use my wringer washers, I wash the old fashioned way, hot water, bleach, soap and then wash what I can in that water. Whites first, light colored clothes that can stand some bleach and then darks. Change the water in the washer and do my permanent pressed items. Anyhow, after a load of towels (white, of course) and then a load of sheets, the sheets are usually covered in lint from the towels.

So, maybe the lint filters are working like they should and no one has realized it! (Mom's old filter flo ALWAYS had lint balls in it when it was done!) The question is now, how to get a lint filter on a speed queen wringer....I'm working on it!

Re: Furry Roommates:

Hey! Bobby, do you mean that you and your 2-Roommates are Furry?

Sorry "Toggles" I think that I just took your fun away, but I just couldn't resist my commenting and questioning about who the Furry Roommates were.

Peace and "Have Fur Will Travel" to the Dryer, Steve

What about "Automatic" lint filters? I have three cats and a Kenmore, it is rare that I see fur in the laundry.
