I was getting grocery the other day, and figured give liquid Tide a try for a change. I've always used powdered Tide in the past

For the last year, I've been using Norwex Laundry detergent, and been very happy with it. a bag has lasted a year for me!

Figured try Tide since I'm out of Norwex for the time being.

Did a load of colored clothes, and OMG, did that tide stink! Figured the smell would be gone when it's dry.... well, it stunk just as bad. My partner was asking me last night if I used something. I asked him why he asked, he said my sweater smells!

Guess we gotten used to Clean clothes that didn't have a smell. I haven't used fabric softener for a year as well.

Soon as I get more Norwex from my mom, I'm giving the Tide away!

Tide HE Smell

Hi Jay. I thought it was me. But I have to agree it stinks. The clothes have an off odor....sorft of like mildew??? The Tide HE with Bleach Alternative is a little better. A lot of the Liquid HE detergents stink, Like Wisk, ERA ALL. Yuck.

Love the smell of Powder Tide HE.

i bought a bottle of tide liquid non HE in the febreeze spring and refresh i think it is, with the purplish cap i think,it STINKS!!! my clothes smell just like mold!!! i used mountain spring scent before and it smelled GREAT! i usually use nothing but tide powder though, it cleans WAY better than liquid. the other day the bf bought all small and mighty with stainlifters, original scent, the clothes are clean and smell fresh! and the scent is nice and light.

Only Version of Tide One Ever Uses

Is the HE version of "Free and Clear", and even then there is a scent. Being as that may all "free and clear" detergents contains some sort of masking scent to cover up the chemicals, so there you are. However the scent with this version of Tide isn't as bad as any of the scented versions.

Have come to the conclusion that P&G has lost their minds when it comes to scented products, and reall find most of their detergents and fabric softeners gaggingly over scented. Worse can tell when someone has done laundry with the stuff as one really needs to stand upwind or be ready to die in the fumes.

As for sudsing, even the "HE" detergents will cause mountains of foam if one is not careful. If you notice none of the European washing machines are listed such as Miele are listed on back of the packages as "recommended by these ....". Find no matter little one uses of the free and clear liquid, it never really seems to rinse cleanly. Then again have heard it is normal to see slight bits of froth in the final rinse water with any liquid detergent, so go figure.

You are right about the suds from the liquid Tide. I had suds left in the gasket when the washer was done! With the powdered Tide and Norwex, I had no suds left in the door.

What I like about the Norwex, only 1/2 tsp is needed!

After reading all of this, I'm going to switch from Tide he liquid to something else. My partner insists on Tide, but I have noticed that either the clothes have a Tide scent, or in the case of towels, they sometimes have an unpleasant scent as if they haven't been adequately laundered. And yes, there is almost always some suds left even after the extra rinse, which with my Affinity is a setting I have locked in for every cycle.

I didn't like the way my Duet handled powder. Some caked up residue would always remain in the detergent dispenser. I may try a small box of powder with the Affinity and see what happens.

I've been using the Ultra Plus from Sears

for a year now, and would not go back to any other detergent.

The scent is minimal, and fades quickly. Cleans well, rinses very well in my machine/water combination....

It's the only thing sold at Sears that has any interest to me.

I have used Tide for years but I like the powder better than the liquid because I was getting that smell in my front loader so I have gone back to the Powder HE Tide or Gain.I use Sears too but I am concerned about the future of Sears so is there any way to but their detergent but at Sears?

Funny this should come up today

the P & G rep just left a little while ago and left a 5 gallon "sample" and a 2.5 gallon sample of Tide x2 for us to try.. have only run a few loads but do agree the odor may be a real problem for us. However after the tumblers it seems to be gone.

The 5 Gallon "sample"

Have agreeed to try in on their autodose system for 30 days and no cost will be interesting for sure. Very Very uncommon for them to offer anything free in this large of quanity. Or even a "trial period in almost 40 years have NEVER know them to do such..

Actually the only place one does use Tide HE "Free" is when going to the laundromat. Those huge 50lb SQ washers, with four rinses seem to give a nice clean and froth free final rinse. Once this bottle is gone however, that is that; am finished with Tide liquids.

Still am working through a large cache of Tide "Professional" HE powder, and have to say it is the only Tide one truly likes. Clean rinsing and gives results right up there with Persil.

I took the advice from AWers awhile back and bought Sears Ultra Plus (enzyme) on sale for $9.99. I am pleased with the results.

we generally been sticking with all regular or free and clear or arm and hammer with oxyclean i like a bit of a scent but not overpowering.
