As a long time lurker i dont see much mention of Gorenje on these boards so i thought i would post up my experience with them.

The washing machine i have is the Gorenje WA 72154in black with the matching condenser dryer.

As the machines are a couple of years old now they are not current models.

Firstly the washing machine

Good things
-Feels well built
-Takes on a reasonable amount of water
-the 17min cycle works good enough to flush sawdust, fibreglass and and bodyfiller dust out of my clothes so i an get away with the same set of jeans/workjumper all week
-It has a recirculation pump like the Zannusi jetsystem
-Door feels pretty solid when it is open
-Drain tube next to the filter just incase of problems
-Quite nicely designed
-Good finish and paint quality

Bad things
-It is not quiet on spin or in normal use

Basically when the machine is running you can hear the recirculation pump humming away and the motor is not quiet. When the motor is running it sounds like a motor if that makes sense, it is like Gorenje were not ashamed to admit that the machine is mechanical device - its not enough to make it uncomfortable to have a conversation next to it but you can hear it if that makes sense. On spin it does jig about a bit - the base of the machine is solid but the cabinet flexes meaning spins are not exactly quiet. It almost puts me in mind of the old 80's hotpoints with the brown fascia on spin - gets the job done but lets you know what its doing

-Wash cycle times

This will make some of the Americans choke - it takes 2hrs 4mins on a cottons 40deg centigrade cycle unless you press the quick wash button.

A boil cycle is a good 2 and a half hours. To be honest this is not a big problem for me/my Mrs. It sounds a problem but because the dryer an dry a load quicker than the washer washes a load it means I never have a backlog waiting for the dryer. This does mean I only have to do washing once a week (Me and my Mrs usually generate 3-4 loads a week)

-Fabric conditioner residue in the dispenser drawer

Bit of a bugbear this one, no matter what brand of softner I use it always leaves some residue behind - not a big problem - just means i need to clean it more often

The Dryer

Good points

-Well built (weighs a ton - trying to move it up and downstairs myself put my back out)
-Good build quality and paint finish
-Nice wide opening door with a nice big porthole
-Sensor drying programs that do dry as they should
-Light in the drum to help spot that odd sock
-Quick to dry anything that is put in
-Pretty quiet

Bad points

Cant really think of any apart from the condenser is a bit of a pain to clean but as that is only done every few months or so its not a biggie

Like i said as a long time lurker i dont see much mention of Gorenje (heck i dont even know of anyone who has heard of the brand) i thought i would type up my experience of them so far

Gorenje WA72145BK set

Many thanks for posting a review of your Gorenje washer & dryer set, they are the domain of the Independant stores and are selling really well, I expect we will see further marketing and development of the brand given the recent launch of the latest models etc..

Is the washer on a solid floor or suspended, the latest models have an updated ,motor which with further development is a little quieter. Also, check the syphon tube on the fabric conditioner dispenser, is it clear? if not flush it through and make sure its pushed fully down, the ones I`ve used havnt had this issue.

For those not familiar, here`s a pic of the set being reviewed. 7kg capacity loading and 1400rpm spin. Condenser Dryer.

Gorenje is my second favourite brand, second after Candy for washing machines and second after SMEG for the other appliances!
They're of reasonable quality and perform very well, I even thought of getting a new Gorenje (the last line, don't remember the name) instead of the old Candy Alisè to put into the new flat!

In our country Gorenje is the most popular brand for over 40 years ;)
Every household have at least one Gorenje machine.

Also through our house went many Gorenje machines ;) The first product was gorenje cooker 1964 and than the washing machine 1970 and than the dishwasher 1972.

For me Gorenje is the best brand with the exception of plasticc tubes in newer models ;)
I have many Gorenje machines and all of them work perfectly, even our first washer ;)
So i can say that we wash, dry, cook, cool and freeze and wash the dishes with Gorenje ;)

And this is our first Gorenje washer made under Rex-Zanussi licence ;)

Mike - Solid concrete floors and dead level, i worked out what the noise i was hearing is though

As you can see in the pic below the space between it and the dishwasher is tight - the noise i can hear is the washer vibrating the dishwasher (it has a loose side panel as it came from a dinted appliance store so it amplifys vibrations) so its something i an ignore. On the fabric softener thing im putting that down to the water round here (and besides its good practice to clean the drawer every month or so)

Like i said, i cant fault them - sadly i cant comment on what the internal build quality is like (Split tub or sealed, wiring routing, sound deadening etc) as i have a 5year parts and labour from the manufacturer so dont want to risk it by whipping the top off

And the dryer tucked away in the utility cupboard - the PC you can see on the shelf above feeds a 32inch TV and hifi on the other side of the wall as a media centre for the kitchen (Pc is hidden from the kitchen as it is turned on by a button on the wall splashback in the kitchen - its amazing how much use the media centre gets)

Its a shame that the dryer could not go next to the washer but the kitchen just is not big enough

@ superavtomat

Hi superavtomat, let me correct one thing you have written.
The first Gorenje washing machine production started in 1966.

It was the model PS 653.
