They both work, and need a little cleaning up. I didn't have a Eureka FAG bag, so I used a Hoover C bag on it to test it. The Eureka is self-propelled and and came from the Salvation Army Thrift Store; the person who bought it originally paid $12.99. Someone moved out of the house behind and and didn't want them so I took them home. The zippers and outer bags are in pretty good shape. They could use a little cleaning but what should I clean them with? The bulb is burned out on the Hoover, but that should be easy enough to replace.

I would like to take them completely apart and clean them, but I don't know exactly how to do that, I will take a closer look at them in a little while. It's a shame that the only carpets I have are in the basement.

Fun finds today...

Head on over to VacuumLand.org to get instructions on how to take these apart and give them a good going over - those guys are the experts!

I've heard that some of the collectors use Brasso on the plastic to restore the shine and clean them up. Haven't tried it myself but I've seen some very pretty results on other machines.

Thanks Gansky

I actually posted there first, but thought I share it with AW group as well. I have the Eureka cleaned up on the outside. Most of the black marks were scuff marks a came right off. I removed the Salvation Army price tag and a piece of masking tape that said self-propelled on it. I cleaned the vinyl bag with a damp cloth and it's hanging up on my back porch drying.

I will post some after pics once it's put back together again.

James
