So I saw the threads about the beautiful early 60's GE 30 inch that was rescued and that stunning Lady Kenmore and here's one more. Saw this at an estate sale on Saturday and couldn't say no.

I think it might be a '62 or '63.

Congratulations!!

Beautiful find Kevin, actually it's a 1957 Sheer-Look model, same year as the control tower washers and dryers!

Nice find!

They were so sure that the Heat Minder was a great selling feature at that time that even the Deluxe model came with it. Pretty impressive. I guess that, in the end, most people who cooked two and three meals a day did not feel that they needed a thermostatic surface unit, given the variables of different types of cookware and the sometimes erratic performance of the controls so they were more limited to the TOL ranges before disappearing. They sure did not work well with cast iron and most households had favorite cast iron skillets. I think the later thermostatic units offered more reliable components and performance, but again, the people doing the cooking found they did not need them. Probably the size settings of the heating patterns was a more appreciated, and far cheaper, feature than the thermal control as evidenced by the selectable coil pattern being offered after the thermostatic units were discontinued.

Don't cha just know there soon will be gourmet "bill of fare" a-plenty comin out of and off of that range. What a great way for that Frigidaire to start it's second life.

Kevin, is that range your second "Sheer Look" purchase?

Ooooo la la!

meanwhile, back at the ranch... er range.... as Phil said there was a '57 Imp very nearby, a huge temptation, and had it been in color...well. These are great ranges, we have the 58 Tech Talk if you need seerive info, they're almost identical. The
Heat minder is a wonderful feature, our '58 GE has similar Automatic Calrod which is fantabulous for cooking bacon, and has selectable coil AND AC on the same large unit, we're spoiled and can't live without it! You'll love this range Kevin!

Thank you Robert and Phil for the year identification! Another example of how much one learns here on AW!

Joe - you are right...I thought I could sew up a nice set of curtains for guest bath with the material from that sheer nighty! Is is from Victoria's Secret or Victor's Little Secret? ;-)
