Our local vintage lighting store, in business since 1913, is closing. Everything is on clearance and has been picked over pretty hard but they have several cases of New Old Stock GE Glow Bright C7 Christmas bulbs.

I have no need for them and know very little about them value-wise but I know several here on AW.org use these bulbs. If anybody wants them, I can front the money to buy them and ship them to you, you can reimburse me through paypal or money order.  The owner said he would sell them for $0.40 per carton - 4 bulbs per carton or $0.10 per bulb. There are 240 bulbs per case so that comes to $24.00 per case. I bet I could get a discount if I bought a bunch of them. I didn't get a count of how many cases are available in each color. I don't know how old the bulbs are but the packaging looks like the Glow Bright packages in the picture below.

Send me a message if you want any of these bulbs.

OOH! OOH, I would like to buy 4 blue bulbs and will pay you handsomely for the trouble and the shipping.

Thank you very much for announcing this sale, even though it is sad to hear of such a wonderful place closing.

On a related topic, does anyone remember when there were yellow C-7 bulbs? I have an ad somewhere touting the difference they made on a tree. My favorites were the GE bulbs with the ceramic coating under the glass. When the red bulbs were not lighted, they looked sorta salmon colored, but when they were on, they were a very rich red.

David, I'd be interested in purchasing a case of mixed colours (red, yellow, blue, and green if possible).   I've been gathering a bunch of GE C7 light strings, so I could have a truly all-GE tree at some point!!

OK, looks like I need to go claim 2 cases of mix and match: one red yellow blue and green and another of red blue green and white. Plus some blue bulbs for Tom (you don't have to pay me handsomely, just what I spend. I'm already handsome

). I didn't look at all of the colors so I don't know if they have all of them. I'll get back with everyone, I won't get back there until Wednesday.

Anyone else?

58limited...

i would be interested in some of these bulbs too.
i would like all of the colors (blue, red, green) especially if they have these colors:
yellow
white
orange

please get back to me & let me know if they have the;
yellow
white
orange

or what colors they have.

i think that would work out to like 10 cartons of each color, if they have the 6 colors and 4 bulbs per carton. right??

thank you so much for the heads up & the kind offer. i look forward to hearing from you real soon.

OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH

What an offer Thanks for sharing with all of us. I want a case of each color, I might add more to the wishlist later I have contacted two other christmas colectors. Thanks Donald of Hans&Donald

To turquoisedude

Let me know what wires/sets you need and I will see what I can spare and send to you. 10 light sets/ 15 light sets 25 light sets these would be GE sets. Donald of Hans&Donald

Ok, I'll go next week with a list and see what colors they have. There were about 7+ cases sitting on the floor when I went the other day but I was told they had more in back. If they don't have as many as I get requests for, I'll fill requests in the order in which the requests were made.

To Donald

Thank you for the kind offer for the GE light strings!!  But not to worry, I have LOTS in my stash of Christmas goodies (which look like a drop in the ocean compared to your collection!).  I have managed to amass 3 of the 25-light strings, 5 of the 15-light, and 4 of the 7-light; they all have that 'last socket connector' that I always thought was a great idea, too.   Thank you again for the generous offer, though!!

David...

I can use 3 cartons each of any color available, except white, if possible.
We've been using strictly C-7 stings on our ~7' tree every year since 1971, and need to replace bulbs every year.

We still use the big C-9s outside too, they make the little mini bulbs everone else uses look wimpy!

Roger, if you will put the lights on a dimmer they will almost never burn out. You don't have to dim them much at all to make them burn cooler and last longer. I put the dimmer on the extension cord and it worked fine.

David, If you find any C 6 bulbs, I want pink and blue, 10 or 12 bulbs of each, please.

I went to the shop today and bought all of their C-7 bulbs. They only had blue, green, and very few red bulbs available. They had no C-6 bulbs but I did buy the C-9 bulbs they had as well - they are actually C-9 1/4, I don't know what the "1/4" means. They also had some C-7 1/2 bulbs. All of these boxes are dusty, I'll knock some off but I'm not going to make too much effort

Here are the quantities of each color:

C-7

1 carton = 4 bulbs; 1 case = 60 cartons or 240 bulbs. Cost is $.10 per bulb, or $0.40 per carton of four, or $24.00 per case of 240 bulbs + shipping.

Blue: 6 cases plus 42 cartons plus 3 bulbs

Green: 6 cases plus 2  cartons plus 2 bulbs

Red: 54 cartons plus 2 bulbs - I will divide most these among the people who asked for mix and match cases.

C-7 1/2

1 case = 25 cartons or 100 bulbs. Cost is the same per bulb and carton as the C-7 bulbs. A case would be $10.00 plus shipping.

Clear red: 2 cases  plus 15 cartons

Clear blue: 2 cartons

C-9 1/4

1 case = 25 cartons of four, or 100 bulbs. Same cost as C-7 1/2 bulbs.

Green: 1 case plus 21 cartons

Here are the orders I have so far, please check for accuracy and let me know of any changes - please send your zipcode when you reply so I can calculate shipping costs:

D-Jones: 1 case mix and match

Tomturbomatic: 3 cartons blue and one of green and one of red.

Turquoisedude: 1 case mix and match

Supersuds: 2 cartons each of red and green

Hippiedoll: 10 cartons each red, blue, green

Norgeway: 1 case each color

Firedome: 3 cartons red, blue, green
