So yesterday morning I'm going out the front door with Jack about 6:45am for his morning walk. It was still kinda dark, so I could only make out that just up the street sat a washer and dryer on the curb. I couldn't tell the brand of either, so we went for a closer look.
The washer was Frigidaire, WCI, from the early 90's maybe, but the dryer was NOT. I stewed about what to do, I really needed another person to help move it. I went to work, and thought about the poor dryer all day.
Michael arrived at my house yesterday about 4pm with our friend John for the weekend, so he and John rescued this for me. It will mainly be used for parts I suppose. I just couldn't leave it.
Here it is, a DG308, in ok shape at that...my first Maytag from the trash!

Trim:

Congratulations- you'll love having a 'Tag.

You're missing the little chrome escutcheon from the cycle knob- it hides that screw head. Maybe someone here will have one for you. I hope so. These are very pleasant machines when they're all spruced up, as I know you'll do.

and...

it works too!!!
I do have the little silver piece too, I saved it for my DG608 because that one is missing

I had to save it...

These classic Maytags are getting more and more scarce, So here's one thats saved.
Too bad the washer they tossed with it was not the matching one to this dryer!

matching washer...

I don't know where it is, but they tossed a Frigidaire washer, its a 90's model. If its still sitting out there tonight I'll see about grabbing a pic of it.

Hi Jeff!

so glad you and Michael saved this classic. even if you use it for parts, that is better then sending it to the crusher.

Take care

Timed Dry Big Loaders- No Frills, Great Performance

I bet any money that dryer works fine. If they tossed it out with a 90's Frigidaire washer, you can bet the washer pooped and they got a new, matching set. I agree with Greg; I bet the exhaust ductwork was never cleaned and burned hot, causing the burn mark. Jeff, I think this one needs to be restored. Lord knows after last weekend, I can walk you thru it, nuts to bolts.
