Besides outright sponsorship of LDCH, Desi and Westinghouse "had an arrangement". Product placement before it was widely prevalent. Subtle, you couldn't tell the brand unless you already knew it.

This is part of how I came to speak with Desi by phone. Dad worked for W and they happened to be traveling together. When Desi got to the airport he phoned me at home. Good thing I wasn't screwing off building mud dams in the creek across the street that afternoon. This was right at the ILL->LDCH transition. I was 10.

Thank you!

My Gosh, Vivian Vance looks like Joanne Woodward here! No wonder Lucy was worried about Vivian looking too young beside her. The major appliances have gone to the squared corner look so it must be what, 1958?

I can't see youtubes, compatibility issue.

Hotpoint? I can't splain it. I also can't splain why Wally puts ice cream in the top of a bottom-freezer GE.

Wiki says the first LDCH season was sponsored by Ford; not in my recollection but both that and Wiki have been known to stutter. Only 6 of 13 LDCHs show the house, and unlike on the NY set Connecticut seldom shows the kitchen.

Speaking of freezers, when Lucy gets out from being locked in the walk-in, they wrap her in an electric blanket. Catch the brand? Yep, Westinghouse.

The episode at the lake cabin with Ida Lupino and her husband had Westinghouse appliances. The episode with Tallulah Bankhead moving in next door had Hotpoint appliances in the kitchens.

Are any of you familiar with the Bankhead Hwy in Alabama? That was named for her father, I think, or maybe grandfather who was a powerful US Senator.

the Lucy Desi Comedy Hour WAS sponsored by Ford

for the 1957/1958 season. Then for the 1958/1959 season it was part of the Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse. The above film was made to promote the Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse in 1958 and it was made in black and white....PAT COFFEY

Somewhere on Youtube is a video of Lucy & Desi examining a Ford Skyliner hardtop/convertible. Seems like Lucy & Desi made a bunch of promotional videos for their sponsors. Maybe it was the practice at the time for television stars to do such projects.
