Machines that spin unbalanced

The AEG 72640 machine I have is very good but one thing annoys me about it is that it almost on every wash cycle, it spins unbalanced. The machine itself is very good but this is the problem. It has been checked by an AEG service engineer in 2002 who says theres nothing wrong with it, he stripped it more or less.

The machine has spun so violently that the drum has hit the door a few times, not causing any damaged apart from a mark on the glass. I found out that some other people have had this with AEG and looking at some other vids on YouTube I can see other ppls AEG's spinning and making a fair bit of noise.

Anyone else with the same brand Electrolux group product or other such as Indesit etc have this problem?

I though from years ago that the use of Unbalanced sensors was to protect the machine but it seems that in this particular machine the programmer is only programmed to balance upto 5 mins and then if it cant balance it will continue into full spin anyway. Any with similar experiences?

Our new Hotpoint has moved out of its place once. We had towels in and we went out.When we came back in,the washer was out of its place.Our old Hotpoint WM53 has distributed so unblalanced i had to turn it off!

I don't even know how long our Electrolux would balance before it either spins or just advances. It did happen, however, that the washer counted down to one minute remaining (on final spin) when it couldn't balance. At this point, the timer stopped and balancing continued.

Overall, our washer does an okay job balancing, but it can also happen that it vibrates so hard that bottles etc. are all over the place after the spin cycle... I think the shocks could be a little stronger 'cause the drum can bounce quite a lot at times.

Wow Logix that looks so bad. Is there something wrong with the suspension on that machine or is ths suspension very soft? The drum is rocking so much lol

The Westinghouse balances reasonably well, but I think that the suspension is 'soft' on these Electrolux/Zanussi built machines.

Sometimes with a full load ours 'creaks' every now and then, but when I have told people about it, they think I am mad...

New suspension will cost a minimum of $250 including parts and for a machine I paid less than USD$385 (incl tax) over 3yrs ago, I am not going to bother ESPECIALLY given it isn't constant...and even with the occassional creak it ALWAYS spins properly.

Hi Ronhic.

Yes ur machine is near enough identical to my AEG just the fasica is different.

Yeah I have the occasional 'tapping' sound with heavy loads, A bit like the tub is touching a cable in the machine or the water jet hose or something.

I notice the suspension is very soft on these machines which is why the drum bounces about. I read about this 'soft suspension' in the Zanussi IZ brochure but I noticed that the Zanussi have better standard of shock absorbers. The AEG has a sub standard cheap looking alluminium leg with plastic insert - this is also used in the cheap Hoover Candy models and some of the new Hotpoints (picture of it is in the Partmaster.co.uk website) I thouygh for this reason is why the machine cant handle heavy loads too well. My older 1996 Indesit which used the brake disc type suspension was much better and less noiser on unbalanced loads.

The suspension on our washer became softer over time (it's three years old now). After all, the shock absorbers are plastic ones... :-/

Those suspension legs are the ones inside the Zanussi also. My AEG has the ones that I have attahced below. This isn't actually from my maachine but the suspension legs are identical in my AEG to this. I would have thought that Electrolux would use the same suspension legs across the board but it seems the AEG has poor ones.

Nice looking machine,tell me what are the detegents on the top?,the green box of tablets looks like Persil to me.
