yep, this one taps the record for size, but they are model like with the drop feeler.

I have a similar model that we did some modifications too a long time ago...it has a more modern Magnavox turntable plus we put an isolation transformer on the amplifier. There should be another similar "cube" which originally went with it which is the second channel speaker. You'll have to make a video of it sometime....mine was under some junk in a storage area and I have only recently got it out. AS I remember the sound quality was very good.

i have a feeling it came with a 2nd cube, but i think the 2nd cube might've been an optional item with some of those 50's stereo cube units, but not too sure. in place of the 2nd cube, i'm going to use my sansui sp-x8700 speaker or my 1950's stromberg carlson pa speaker. i get a vid of up of it before and after restoration. also on the way i have a pentron portable tube reel to reel machine i'm also going to show on youtube once it comes in.

It is stereo and did origionally come with a second matching cube speaker (I saw one in California). I have a picture somewhere. I wanted so bad to take it home with me, but it cost a pretty penny as it was and would have cost a fortune to ship.

I also have the exact same changer as a portable (I guess a 58 or 59). Amazing sound!!!! I love that thing! It's my favorite one. I have a picture on the other computer.

that's the one (except mine is brown where the black is). Good memory, it's been a 6 or 8 months since I posted that. It is an amazing record player though, you'll love it. I'll look around for the cube picture w/speaker later.

That looks just like the changer I grew up with. I was born in '59 and my older sister thinks they had the stereo (ours was a blond console) a year or two prior to that.

The only thing I'm not recalling is the manual play switch attached to the speed selector. That doesn't mean ours didn't have it, just that I'm not remembering it. I haven't seen that Magnavox since 1977, when I was a senior in high school. And I'd stopped playing records on it once I got my first receiver and turntable in junior high. So it's been awhile.

I loved watching that changer work, though, when I was little. Spent a lot of time in front of that stereo. In fact, there were teeth marks along the front edge of the console, where I was apparantly trying to teethe while I watched, LOL!

Congrats on your find and hope you get many hours of pleasant listening from it. Seeing those old Collaros really brings back memories.

And Will, I'm green with envy that you have one, too!

haha, teething on a console! me and my brother used to teethe on an antenna of a 1970's sanyo portable am/fm cassette recorder when we were little. my mom got mad and asked us "who's biting this?". anyway, i missed that radio cuz i love to watch the analog vu-meter jump.

if anyone has an extra 45 adapter for this changer (or my Symphonic), I'd love to buy it off you (especially if they say the brand name). I think they are both voice of music. Can repost pictures of units in question if desired.

the magnavox uses collaro changer not vm. i do have an extra 45 adaptor that fit that changer, but not the same exact one that come with it.

last week i saw a late 60's magnavox mini console at a antique shop for $39. i'm thinking about getting it. only issue is that itz missing the spindle, but maybe i'm wrong because the sliding door was opened a tiny bit and it had stuff all over it so i didn't bothered messing with it. it has the automatic series record changer just like the one in jasonl's '69 portable magnavox not the micromatic series one. not sure if it has a radio in it as well, but i'm still digging it and if i do get it, i'm going to try to talk it down.
