Sanforized colorama

Oh Greg. For the sake of total retro, any chance of seeing you in the above outfit and hair-do posing and ironing?

What a catch!

Asbestos is not healthy but it is not as bad as say somethimg that is radioactive either. My undertanding is that any particle with a 1:2 (width:length) size ratio that becomes lodged in the lungs is a huge irritant. The body's response IIRC is growths/cancer.

AND!

Greg dear, when Laundress comes to pick that board up you can snap her pic for the picture thread!

Greg that is just beautiful. What a great idea that was. Perfect for ironing those tablecloths!! Oh I forgot you have that wonderful Ironrite for that!!! "Doesn't use it much" of course he does!!!

Greg ... now that's an ironing board AND cover!!

The cover you're using is Sanforized ... I never knew what that meant!! I'm sure its washable too so you can rinse off all of that starch. :-)

I still have my Mom's early 1950's ironing board tucked away in the attic.

Greg, does the cotton pad & cover set have areas to cover the crank out wings? I wonder if there is anyplace catering to the laundry profession that might sell pads and covers for those boards.
Geoff, don't you remember all those ads in magazines for Sanforized cotton where two tee shirts were compared before and after washing? The Sanforized one was the same shape and size while the one that was not was all drawn up lengthwise and stretched out really wide.

It's gonna stay mint, that's for sure!

Me iron? Hell no. I do save flatwork for the Ironrite but rarely have a need for hand ironing anymore. When I worked at the bank, I ironed shirts & pants every day. Of course, none of these facts stop me from bringing home cool things like this or NIB irons but I really fail to see the relationship between "collecting" and NEED...

The Rid-Jid table I had was exactly like this new Sears Maid of Honor model - right down to the knobs on the handles. Terry is going to take the Rid-Jid back to Florida with him in September but I will keep my eyes open for you, L. I tossed the No-Burn Asbestos cover as the cotton batting was falling apart when I peeked in the bag.

Custom Made!

Wow! How cool to find it MIB. I'm still using the ironing board (Arvin) my mom got as a wedding shower gift.

Not that it gets much of a workout, you understand...

As for that cover, you can make your own! Imagine my surprise when I was in Jo-Ann (fabric store) and saw that you can buy that silver ironing board cloth by the yard. Who knew?
