Great recipe will have to do this one.  Like you love a meatloaf sandwich the next day.

Butter Makes it Better

Kevin, I'd ask for meat loaf before chataeu briande, it is one of my favorite meals.  I have never tried making meat laof with buttermilk but always have it on hand so I think I will.  D0 you ever shoot off location like your home in Detroit?

You might make a meatloaf fan out of me.  Meatloaf has never been high on my food list, actually been 4 or 5 years since I had any, but this looks interesting and I may give it a try on a nice cool autumn day...

As always enjoyed your running commentary in the video.

Peter - sorry if the eggs weren't on the recipe - they are now. Two beaten eggs to in the mix.

Kelly - I'll be closing the cottage for the winter end of October/beginning of November. I usually open it up the end of April. The six months it's closed up are the longest! Not so much that I dislike the winter season, I just miss the cottage. We will probably move things to the Detroit kitchen for the winter months where at least there is heat!

I made this meat loaf last night and it was delicious. I have always hated my mother's. I like the idea of cooking it on a cookie sheet rather than a loaf pan. I can see my mother's loaf bubbling in fat in the oven. Cooking the onions is a good idea too.
The only thing I would do different next time, would be to cook it on the bbq.

I'm glad to hear that this series might be continued with only a kitchen change. I've been enjoying it.

Also thanks for providing a full recipe in addition to the video. I like video clips since they can show things better than words, but words can be faster--particularly when checking a detail.

It's super moist and makes the best sandwiches the next

I've made meatloaf when something else is in the oven for dinner, just to have it for sandwiches! That, to me, is the best test of a good meatloaf!!!

Brian and Chuck,

SO GLAD that you gave this recipe a try and had good results, too! There are a lot of good variations on meatloaf, but this is one that I've made a few times and was always happy with the final product.

Brian, I would be curious to know how it comes out on the bbq - it may give it a very unique flavor twist. Let me know!

Looks really good Guys!
I am going to try it tomorrow!
Thanks for the video!

fini... awful me took a slice and ate it before I realized I'd forgotten to take a picture LOL

Guys, this recipe of Kevins is great. Best I've made and I'm not just saying that to be nice

The only thing I forgot to do was spray the tinfoil with Pam but it was fine, only one little corner stuck .

Highly recommend trying this one

Last Night

I made Buttermilk Meat Loaf for Peter and I last night.  I used mustard, honey, soy and ginger for the topping in defference to his Chinese taste buds. We ate most of it in one setting.  I will always use buttermilk from here on.

Hopefullly I can make this next weekend.  I was all set to make it this weekend, but forgot about the ro-tel tomatoes and don't have a can in the pantry (scandalous for here in Texas).  I also couldn't find panko bread crumbs anywhere at my grocery store, but did find a recipe or two online as to how to make them myself.
