Hey members, I just wanted to ask if anyone has had any problems with a new Neptune FL (MAH8700)... My folks bought one in Dec (even though the old "dependable care" didn't die) and it's now leaking water and shakes horribly. I took off the bottom plate (it's on the pedistals) and the back cover and couldn't see where the water is coming from. Maytag man is coming on FRI, just thought I'd see if anyone else is having the same problem. The machine is on a tile floor with 1" plywood I believe. I had it leveled perfectly and it didn't shake for months but now we have problems!

It is possible that this "new" machine is one of the very many built up to 2004 which are covered by a fix-it-for-free policy from Maytag. They have an above average service record the saleswoman kept saying, while pointing to the mop and pail she had placed against the Maytag Neptune display.
Maytag used to mean quality and reliability. Maybe they do fit into the Whirlpool family of junk, trash and worse.

I think Kaycyc is referring to the new series of Maytag Neptune washers, which are made by Samsung and rebadged by Maytag as Neptunes. They have different model numbers than the US-made solid door original Neptune line.
So I don't think Maytag has any special fix-it-for free policy on these, as most are still under warranty, anyway.
I have heard that the Samsung line is a solid, dependable machine. It's possible, like with anything, this particular unit suffered some major failure. Please list the model number. I think the higher end Samsung made models - the ones with the LCD displays - were recalled for safety reasons (the spinner would break or something like that). If you have one of those, you definitely need to get Maytag to look into it. But despite this recall, again I'm not aware of any special dispensation to be offered "Maysung" buyers.

Yes, the machine I was talking about was the rebadged model made by Samsung. Last time I was in Lowe's I was talking to the sales rep. and told him my troubles with my Neptune. "I wish I would have bought the Bosch." I told him.. He said that the Neptunes were wonderful machines. The Maytag man came out and fixed my leaking problems. Apparently after all of my leveling and releveling and the vibration something was messed up with the detergent drawer. Once he leveled the machine and took top off and put it all back together it works perfect. I will say that I was impressed with the punctuality and professionalism of Maytag's service reps. Anyways, everything is fixed and the machine is working wonderful.

My experience with Samsung appliances dates back almost 25 years or so ago when my parents bought a little 13 inch color TV from a drug store for $99.95. That was an impossible price for a color TV in that day and age. That little TV though was a great performer. We bought it to put in the camper to watch TV on rainy days. It's little mechanical tuner was better than any other TV we had used, and would pull in stations other TV's wouldn't. That TV is still running to this day, giving a great picture like it was new in my parent's house!
I bought a Samsung dorm refrigerator about 15 years ago when I went to college, and that has been the greatest fridge. It will even hard-freeze stuff if you turn it up all the way! It's been a very efficient little guy. He resides in my garage today.
My shop is a Samsung professional A/V dealer. We have had excellent performance out of their HDTV products, plasma and LCD displays, and their VCR's, cameras, and the like. The stuff is at a great price and is rock-solid reliable. Great stuff at a reasonable price! I wish American companys could just get the idea. If they did what Samsung does, they would be making fortunes!!!
Glad your issue with your Samsung-built Maytag turned out to be minor. I imagine someone was definitely thinking properly when they partnered with Samsung to put their names on these machines!
