Maytag 865 - any info

Wife is looking at a MT MVWB865. Any info as to good or bad points?
We looked at the highly recommended MT575, I like the machine but the boss says the tub is too small.

The only Maytag top loader worth considering is the MT575.  The only drawback is the lack of water level selection.  Every other top load model by Maytag is similar to most Whirlpool models.  They're all junk.  And don't be fooled by the huge capacity.  The usable capacity is much smaller due to DOE regulations; therefore, they won't fill all the way up.  You might consider spending the extra money and buy a Speed Queen TC5000 or even a used Whirlpool Direct Drive washer.  Parts are plentiful and they are easily repaired.

The Boss

If The Boss wants more volume capacity than 3.5 cu ft, I would suggest that she go for a front loader which will actually do the job - albeit with longer cycle times. Extra large TL with cabinet hung tubs have a lot of trouble with balance.

A 3.2 - 3.5 cu ft Commercial Grade Top Loader will make up for its size with faster production of clean clothes.

If a King Size thick comforter is the long tent pole, you need a good 4+ cu ft front loader....not a big TL.
