Anyone have old 204454 timer laying around? Seen couple on EBAY ~$85+..

Have 40yr old Avocodo Green Maytag set. Have been used regularly since parents original purchase in ~1974 by them till ~2000 and have been my only set at my house since with little issue. Washer has ALL ORIGINAL except filler valve and maybe a belt, no leaks, squeaks or smells. Dryer had bearing replaced with bronze sleeve, new timer, a heating element and a belt.

Anyway, I'm looking for timer to keep this classic operational.

Sure don't make them like they use too.. Looking to replace them with Speed Queen, or ~15 year old Maytag Dependable.

I took it apart and has couple burnt contacts. Probably could rebuild it if I could find the contact strips. Thought someone here might have one.

Thanks.

Rebuilding timers is an art and you will not find the parts you need except by taking apart another timer that has good contacts in it.

That is not a difficult timer to find as your original post noted. $85 may seem steep but that honestly is a pretty normal price for a timer on ebay. You might be able to find one for less somewhere else.

It worked, just intermittently stalled starting spin, or would not turn off at end of cycle. Removed contact pad that had burned off and cleaned what was left. Last 3 loads cycled fine. $85 not bad, just thought I'd ask the guys here who like to rescue these vintage machines and may have extra parts laying around.

Keep pursuing this.  Your Maytag is worth hanging onto.  If no one here has a timer for you and $85 is all you need to spend to keep it running for any number of additional years, that's a bargain.

You could also check craigslist and see if there's a cheap or free Maytag you could harvest the timer and other parts off of for any future needs.
