So I picked up this maytag a 511 model last summer $35.00 I purchased from a new homeowner that said an elderly man left behind in the basement which lightly used I have given it a test run in the garage with soap and water it’s quiet and runs like a Maytag . Over the years I’ve never been a big fan of Maytag washers because of the small capacity short rinse cycles even with the long spray rinse .. and I’ve never had good luck with any Maytag that I’ve used always a problem burning belts even the vintage laundromat ones I would choose speed queen over the Maytag in the laundromats ..Maytag struggled to turn over a decent load & couldn’t handle a big load of laundry .. Now I know there’s a lot of Maytag fans on this website someone convince me to bring this Maytag into my home I am more of a GE filter flow Speed Queen, Kenmore, Whirlpool, KitchenAid- direct drive kind a guy I like a lot of drama In my wash ..Maytag seems very boring any thoughts ?? on me giving it chance? it’s in the garage I’ve been trying to sell it no one wants it should I bring it in the basement and use it this winter. Who’s a devoted Maytag fan on here ?? P.S. how can I respond to each response what are the steps. Again thank you all 😁 I want to acknowledge your comments.

I have been using the identical washer and matching dryer since I bought them new in 1984. It is an extra large capacity 511 and washes a king size comforter just fine. With one $28 repair to mine in all these years, the only drama is throwing stuff into the dryer and having to take out and put away. Maytags were meant back then to be seen and not heard and I hope to keep mine for as long as I can.

My Maytag washer

Here is a picture of my Maytags I have to say there is nothing pretty about them they are plain Jane and basic . I enjoy them they are quite and tough .

I have a Maytag A712 and I don't quite trust it with a twin size comforter. Not that it won't fit, just poor turnover and it also damaged a well used item.

I don't think I could even get the lid closed on a king size comforter.
