Hi,

I couldn't find a previous thread on the problem I'm having, so I started this one.

My reliable Maytag A712 washer has begun to shake when it is in the spin cycle. I have already tried the following:

re leveled the washer with the feet
replaced and regreased the damper pads

I'm thinking the centreing springs may be the cause. They might need to be adjusted to re centre the tub, or I might have to buy new ones.

Does anyone know if there is a procedure to tighten the springs and balance the tube?

Am I on the right track?

Same problem with the A612

My issue was rebalancing the tub, and while I’m not completely sure on how to fix it, that’s a good guess on what it is, but try to run it with no clothes in it, and see how it behaves. Mine with no clothes in it shakes around a lot, so that might be the problem.

Did the machine suddenly begin its shaking issue out of nowhere or was it progressive? If it suddenly occurred, the inner tub may have gone out of balance.

Be sure all four feet are turned into the washer as far as possible yet allowing the washer to be level and all 4 locknuts are tight against the washer base.

The other likely cause is dry or shot damper pads, take the washer front off and check, if you see the dreaded Black Dust you have a big problem.

combo52, Thanks for your suggestion of tightening the feet. It solved the shaking machine.

I never realized that spinning the nut on the feet to one extreme raises the washer and to the other it locks them in place.

Once I tightened the feet, no more shaking or as some people call it dancing. Need to look for another dance partner now. I feel like such an amateur.

Thanks again for the help everyone.
