Hey everyone. Longtime lurker, first time poster. I've learned a lot of great information from this site for working on my old Maytag washer and dryer. Recently, my fiancee accidentally forgot to replace the lint trap in the dryer, so a pair of her leggings got caught between the drum and the lint trap. In order to get it out, I had to take the dryer apart. I took the whole thing apart, labeled the wires, separated the drum, cleaned it out, oiled it, and put it back together. When I ran it, it made a slight scraping sound, and I noticed the drum itself has some play front to back inside. I'm wondering if I may have put it back together incorrectly. If I push the drum towards the lint trap, it doesn't seem to make the noise. Another problem is I now have to restart the dryer 4-5 times in order to dry 1 load. I've looked at the 2 yellow wires up by the timer, and they're connected. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Problems With A DE-806 Dryer

There are various washers, spacers and a clip ring that holds the drum shaft in a properly aligned position in the bearing housing, something is missing or not in the correct position.

Something did not get back together in the sensor circuit as well or the excess front to back play in the drum is not allowing the slip-ring and pick-up brush to stay in contact.

Hopefully you can fix it from the back but you might have to tear it all apart again.

Is the dryer a halo of heat? Or is it newer?
Obviously you screwed something up. Spin the drum and find out where it is scraping. Use common sense and you should be able to put it back together.

Sorry, pics for clicks 👍

Does anyone have a proper order of what washers go where? The c-clip seemed to fit in the proper groove on the shaft when putting it back together, but obviously I missed something. I don't mind taking it apart again, it's my mistake anyway. It is a Halo of heat, which I had to replace a few years back due to a quarter shorting it out. Thanks for everyone's help
