hi, hope you experts can help with my problem. Dependable care is approx 20 years old. Every once in a while machine goes dead after water fill. All three indicator lights go off.
I know its not lid switch problem. If i reset timer (add coins), machine starts new cycle again and may be OK for a couple of weeks.
Do you think maybe timer problem. Can it be serviced ?? Annyone familiar with this problem ??
Thanks for your help

Some ideas...

1)You might have a timer issue
2)You might have a pressure switch issue
3)You might have a lid switch issue.

When you say you 'reset the timer', did the timer make it to a off postion like it went thru a cycle, or did it stop mid cycle so you have to advance it to the beginning again? When it malfuctions, is it full or will it empty?

RCD

thanks for helping. Machine stops FULL OF WATER and acts dead.
All 3 idicator lights, in use, rinse, unbalanced are ALL OFF.
Timer doesnot have knob. I simply add coins and machine starts agitating in about 1 or 2 minutes and runs normal.
I know its not lid switch because normally when i open lid the unbalaned light goes "on" and "NO INDICATOR" lights is very unusual. Acts like timer stops after water fill.
It only does this every few weeks and its located in a rented property and I'm not around at the time.
I tried simulatng problem by disconnecting "full" wire on water level pressure switch and the "in use" light remains "on" so i dont think its pressure switch. Any ideas ????

its plastic body timer with individual wires, lots of them on each side.
Think its repairable or replace ($100 or more).

Timers can be tricky to diagnose. The box timer has alot of wires....if you can get it out of the timer box, check for a loose, burnt terminal or wire. Better to replace, but I can't say for sure that the timer is the problem. Does it "die" during wash agitation, or does it fill then die without any agitation at all? There should be a part # stamped on the timer somewhere.
