Hi Everyone

I'm was installing my Maytag 808 electric dryer this afternoon, a process I assumed would be quick and easy.....WRONG....After installing and new plug (three prong to 4 prong I took the lower panel off to find that the belt was broken. Would the Maytag experts here tell me how to replace the belt I really don't know where to start I assume I have to take the front panel off....then what any help would be greatly appreciated.

(I wanted to give a little background which I find amusing/funny/sad

My daily driver is a 1979 1-18 with a matching dryer as some of you may recall my house sitter broke the temperature knob so I move the dyer to the garage in comes the Maytag 808 gas dryer, as you may recall after some use a a small fire occurred.....I buy a 808 electric dryer for parts, and move the 1970'S LADY KENMORE IN. Monday the pilot lighter failed after 2 days looking for parts for the Kenmore I move the 808 electric in (you may be asking yourself at this point why the he-- doesn't he fix the dryers....living in palm springs my garage from Mid April to nov 1 is 115 degrees so no work space.

So that the story Please Help Thanks again

Unplug the dryer, take the front panel off. Then you take off 4 screws, and the front tub support comes off. Check condition of the support pads on the support while you have it off.

Put the belt around the tub, with the grooved side up. Replace the front tub support.

Go to the back of the dryer, and there is a small access panel in front of the motor. Remove it, and thread the belt through the motor pulley, and idler pulley. Replace the rear access panel, the front panel, plug it back in, and enjoy.

Broken Dryers

I would bring the broken LKM gas dryer in the house [ where it is cooler ], fix it and reinstall it. The LKM Gas dryer is by far the best one you have, all parts of the burner system are easy to get and replace, if you have problems getting something let me know and we can send it.
