I'm looking for a thermostat and timer unit for my Maytag Dryer model DE701. I own a vintage clothing store in Portland Oregon where we've been using both vintage washer and dryer units for our laundry needs. We went ten years without any breakdowns!

That dryer works on 230 volts 3 wire as 4800 watts and 2 wire 115 volts at about 1800 watts.

The high limit thermostat in dryers is the one that only opens when the unit is about on fire; ie the vent is clogged.

A cycling thermostat is the one that cycles in normal operation; for temperature control

Ah, well see. That's what I get for trying to help someone. I didn't realize there were two thermostats. Thanks for the input. @edchalfa: What he said! Ignore my posts about the thermostat. Sorry for any confusion!

If you are unable to locate a replacement timer, Midwest Timer in Benton Harbour MI can fix the existing one.

Wow, that dryer is gorgeous! Can I bother you to post a picture of the washer, too?? A 'tag set in Turquoise is an elusive dream machine of mine...

With timers; one can also just open up the dryer and mark down the older timers number and check the web / ebay.

With old stuff the cross references can get lost with time.

Thus an brand new old stock ebay timer you need can be just sitting there as part # ABCD from 1962 and some cross reference has you searching for #EFGH from 1972 as the modern part number and it is shown as not available.
