Maytag Electric Dryer LDE808 Won't Shut Off

I'm hoping someone on the forum can help me fix my wife's "daily driver" dryer that she absolutely loves.

The LDE808 won't shut off on any selected cycle.

The solenoid engages within the correct time ranges for all settings, Regular, Permanent Press, Damp Dry, Air Fluff. The "paper-clip" connecting the solenoid to the cycle selector switch is intact and connected but the fiber-board to which it connects kind of flops around.

I have the schematic and it is intact and readable. I also have the REPAIR-MASTER No. 8055 service manual from MASTER Publications, Inc.

What's confusing while troubleshooting is the book calls out connection number/wire color combinations that are not on my machine or on the schematic. For example:
pg. 35 - GY 4 indicating Grey 4. There is not a GY 4 on my schematic. There is a GY 3 and GY 41 but no GY 4 to either the CYCLE SELECTOR SWITCH or the ELECTRONIC DRYNESS CONTROL on the schematic.

I initially thought this was a typo until they correctly called out GY 41 which does exist on the schematic.

Couple questions:
Should the fiber-board solenoid connector flop around or should it have a solid back and forth movement?
Is there a cross reference from the REPAIR-MASTER connections to my DE808 schematic?

Should not "flop around".

That's how they commonly fail. You need a new switch, part # is 304473, but they are no longer available. They do occasionally pop up on ebay but those in the know usually swipe them up pretty fast.

Someone here may have a new or used switch they're willing to sell.

I too would wonder the same.

Dan, do you happen to know what the root failure of the switch is when they loosen up like that?

Madzack, if you open up your switch to troubleshoot, please do post a couple pictures!

I've been into a few switches similar to these but not this one in particular. There's generally just a few wafer boards that trigger certain contacts. I'd say it's worth poking into. They usually come apart fairly easy once the bent metal tabs are straightened out, just go slow.

I did find used switch on ebay for $50 but I find that price lubricious for a used part. New ones usually pop up for around half that. But, if all else fails.....

Finally got the new switch from Ben installed. It works great! 

WRT rebuilding the switch. So far the brown “plastic-board” backing appears to have been pressed onto tabs on the edges of the connectors and I'm not able to bend them in a way so the back can be removed. It looks like each of the tabs would need to be ground off or possibly clipped to remove the back. It doesn’t appear to be glued. 

I may have to sacrifice the back to tell if there are any internal components that can be repaired.
