Hello: Recently bought a MT set - LDG712 dryer & LA712 washer. Excellent physical condition. They replace my old WP BD set that lasted us about 35 years (that's a whole 'nother story). The dryer has a problem in that the PP cycle won't work correctly in the "Cool Down" mode. In that cycle, the timer doesn't advance through cool down once the drying is done. The chime also doesn't sound, which I know is required to start off the cool down function. The "Timed Drying" function works correctly; by that, I can see that the electronic control board fires the SCR to sound the chime, the timer motor is OK, shutoff works correctly, etc. I am looking at the Start/Control Switch (a used one is en route), since several of the contacts (including the momentaries) don't behave as the wiring diagram says they should.
Does anyone know if this switch could account for the problem I'm having?
Second question: does anyone know if it's imperative for the timer knob to be rotated in the CW direction only? I can't find any warning anywhere in the literature against rotating the timer in the CCW direction.
Thanks in advance for any/all responses!
