Maytag Neptune dryer restoration

I purchased a Maytag Neptune dryer off of Craig's here in Ocala a few weeks ago. Like anything used I wanted to go over it before I started using it. Well it's good thing I did because this thing was pretty disgusting on the inside. Where can I post multiple pics of my progress?

I refurbed this model dryer several years ago, found on FreeCycle.  The front drum slides had worn down and the doofuses kept running it until the edge of the drum shredded and tore through the front bulkhead panel.

Grimy lint. What isn't obvious is the overpowering smell of cheap liquid fabric softener. I almost hurled after being exposed to it for a while.

OMG! It'a a poster child for a lint fire!

Fivel came home and decided to nest in her nether regions.

Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair because it was all in the dryer!

There wasn't a spot that wasn't covered in hair and sand.

This is after I had already pulled out by hand the larger clumps of lint and hair.

It was at this point I decided to tear down the whole machine. There was a sticky residue jammed into every nook and cranny and it had to go!

The squirrel cage was partially blocked by lint and sand build up.

It just keeps getting better!

I'm no rocket scientist, but I know things work better without a coating of lint on them.

Seriously, I don't know how this dryer motor didn't burst into flames!

...it just goes on and on.

I was beginning to feel overwhelmed by the amount of dirt there was.

No matter what I cleaned, more dirt would appear.

 

[tecnopolis]

No need for a new drum seal, It was making it's own replacement.
