The woman I bought them from had been putting me off by not promptly returning my calls or emails since July 4th when she posted the ad. She wanted $450 for the set, and I was offering her $300 and she would have to deliver them. So I guess she was trying to hold out for more money. I must have been the only one interested in her "Bisque" Neptunes because she finally caved and agreed to sell and deliver them.
Now after playing phone tag for weeks they're finally here.
The dryer is gas, which I was planning to switch over to propane and use it in the garage as a back-up, since we only have provisions for an electric dryer in the main laundry room.
Normally I would pass on any "bisque" machines, but just a month earlier I found a good deal on an LCD Neptune electric dryer in Bisque and my Mom liked the color.
Of course, I was told they had "no issues", but that was not the case.

..another Maytag I also picked up in the past few weeks. A gas dryer. Although it looks like a Neptune and/or an Atlantis, it's not labeled as one. MDG9000?

I paid $145 for it delivered...the owners brought it with them from California to here in Ocala, even though they didn't have gas at the new house. The wife didn't want to leave it behind. I told him I don't have gas either and was just going to convert it to use propane out in the shed. He said don't tell his wife that because she loves/loved that dryer and if she knew that could be done she wouldn't have finally let it go. She said it was spotless, which it wasn't, unless she was reffering to dents or rust. but it was dusty and sandy.
All of that just wiped away with a new paint brush I used to dust the crevices and a good old bottle of windex and a micro cloth, I can work wonders!

Luckily, with a little elbow grease and a brush. Most of the stuff came right off.

....light years cleaner and 100% more presentable. Now you won't be shocked every time you open the detergent dispenser and be greeted by the bio hazard that lived there before.

This must be my lucky month. Not only is my life now free of sand, dulling soap scum and fuzzy lint, I can now ad embarrassing rust to the list!

I used some of that "Wesley's Bleach White" (sp?) for tires on the boot and tub ring. It was a gamble not knowing what the outcome would be, but the results speak for themselves.
This house is on a well system too, but we have a water treatment and softener system to eliminate this type of problem. Having the open flume design on top will allow me to keep an eye out for deposit build up.

Just to say ... the exterior of the drum and interior of the outer tub is likely coasted with the same smutz.  Or did you disassemble to clean those areas?
