Maytag neptune free!!!!!!

last year I was given 2 maytag neptunes one with a bad computer/drive,and one with rough tub bearings I greased the old bearings and used for a year this last week I changed the tubs now I have a good working washer. heres me with the 2 tubs

Installing the tub

What I found is a suttle difference in the two tub assemblys first there was a different location of the water level sensor.The tub that has the good bearings the sensor had a hose on it,so I had to block off the end since the newer had the sensor built into the drain pump assembly.
Second was 2 other vibration switches one on top & lower end of tub ,the lower was on a plastic frame bolted to the tub so I had to remove the other bracket that was used in the other machine.
last was a lump of concrete was in a different location.all went together well I had 3 hours in the whole thing.

Maytag Neptune washing!!!!

Finally got it together. washing cloths in it,and watching it close while seeing the operation through the service opening in the back. WOW that faster spin really turns that drum fast!!!!!
HYPER DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Theres another change over I had to do that I didn`t mention in the last thread.....
I had to put the front drun assembly cover from the main washer on the good drum since it has a water heater
Now I can bring my new gas dryer I got at lowes for half price back in set it up & do some laundry.

YAY!!!! I just love my Neptune!! I however have the Amana Enlighten rebadged Neptune, I just LOVE the styling of it!! I saw the matching dryer on sale the other day, I wish I could've gotten the set!!!

The only thing I don't like about these Neptunes is you can't see the action! LOL

I still love my Neptune MAH3000

so it's what? 10 years old now? Just did the board, door lock thing and it hums along. I think I should go in and change those spider bolts just as a preventative.

Chuck, did you change your spider bolts to SS?

Congratulations! It seems the best things in life really are free! lol! I've always liked these machines! There is a local laundromat here that has about 4 commericial neptunes but i've never had the chance to go use them!

Has anyone ever tripped the doorlock to see abit of the action inside? I've seen a video on youtube of one spinning and would love to see some wash action!!

It would be great if maytag actually made a neptune with a glass door so you can see inside, the door can look like the us square door lg. Like on youtube vids.

I used a coin-op Neptune at a Caravan Park on holiday once.

It wasn't bad, rinsed and span well but the wash left a lot to be desired. Stains which should be easily removed were left behind.

This could be due to the very short wash time (40mins) or the lack of a water heater.

I've heard good things about these machine on here though, so I'll put my experience down to the machines being used and abused for many years which I would imagine dosen't help things.

Maybe I'll get the chance to use one again sometime

Thats cool matt! Like i mentioned, theres a place down the road from my parents that has them as i mentioned, i heard there only for use for service washes though.

It's funny as i'm not usually bothered by machines i can't see in, but at the same time i really like them and i like decor panel mieles, there was one on the street last year i really wanted about 13years old and i thought it would be just torture not to see in so i'd have to modify it so i could! lol.

I finally got around to snapping a pic of the Frigidare Affinity dryer with the redone Maytag Neptune washer.
They are both working great

I never seen the washer that matched this dryer because it was sold again . the story is.......
I was at lowes and seen this dryer at half price,and they said the pair was returned because the washer was problematic the washer was fixed and it resold but not the dryer.
I was in need of a better dryer so I bought it,and also needed a natural gas to propane kit. Lowes was nice enough to sell the conversion kit at half price to.

The spider bolts are on the ends of the spider that holds the wash basket. They are steel and rust and then break at high speed spin sending the wash basket reeling inside the plastic outer tub. Replacing with stainless or new steel bolts is a good idea. I need to do mine they are over 10 years old.
