Mine was bought new NIB in May 2008. Ran it for 6 months, the clutch went bad preventing it from balancing for spin. Replaced under warranty. I didn't use the machine for about 2 years after the repair, upon which it's still having terrible trouble balancing for spin (it worked on a test spin immediately after the repair). I've pulled/disassembled/cleaned/relubed/reinstalled the clutch and replaced the tub displacement sensor, still not spinning consistently. I suppose the next step is replace the clutch again but I don't see anything obviously wrong with it, and the warranty is no longer in effect.
It is an interesting creature. The wash action is in some ways more aggressive than expected and in some ways not. The water level is quite low in the basket during wash and first rinse(s) (although there's more water in the tub than it seems), fairly high for the final rinse & bulky wash.
The model in the ad is FAV6800, which is what I have. There was/is also FAV9800 which adds touch-screen controls like the Neptune 7500, onboard water heating, and slightly higher spin speed.

A rash of them showed up here on Craigslist recently, a few with pleas from the owners to overlook "easy-to-fix" fault codes like LR (locked rotor--can involve the clutch assembly among other things, or a bad board) or DC (unbalance condition; sometimes due to a faulty tub displacement sensor).
I nabbed one of the few that had no codes, but then discovered that the softener dispenser won't empty
. That'll be my next project.
They seem to have their issues, but they are fun and ours performs well. Like any modern electronic machine, I figure it has a lifespan. It's fun to use. Three cycles' water use equals one fill on the Norge I wanted it because the idea of a "top-loading front-loader" sounded fun, even though I assume it will bite me in the butt someday. The stainless-steel tub is amazingly smooth to the touch, even at the places where discs and tub meet.
