Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Thanks Glenn.

My phone is being crappy. I figured the washer "money shot" was a good one, if I could only post one.

Actually; could these both be '07s?
I have very limited knowledge on the subject, and I've only really heard about '08s.
I can't really make it out, but the model number on this dryer almost looks like DE307 to me.

Tim,
Thanks. I didn't know that.
Does the series determine the level of bells and whistles too, or does the series have more to do with the era of the machine?
Like; is a 407 a step above a 307, or does it not work that way?

John,
It would appear these aren't too far from your neck of the woods.
Might you be interested?
It would be an hour or more drive for me.
I don't have a vehicle that they would fit in.
I'm laid up with a vertigo attack anyway, so no driving.
I don't know the first thing about working on them.
I don't have room for them.
And the list goes on.

Barry - That's pretty much how it goes. The only catch is that the different models are better or worse in different ways - a chart of them would be more like a tree branching out, with some of the branches overlapping. So the decision of how to rank them ultimately comes down to an opinion - a personal preference based on which features you personally find to be of value.

A good example is the A906. It's clearly the top of the line of that era of Maytags. But the "automatic" push-button system actually removes a lot of control from the user. An A806, technically a step down, gives more flexibility and options. The A906 also doesn't have a soak cycle, something even the mid-line A408 has. So if you want full control, you might rank the A806 above the A906.

Likewise, take for example the A208 and the A308. The A308 is "better", right? Depends... At the time, the A308 was the lowest featured machine available with the extra-large tub. But the A208 was the highest-spec'd machine with the smaller "Large" tub. The A308 doesn't have a bleach dispenser or warm rinse option, nor does it have the two-speed motor for delicates - all things that the lower-tier A208 has. So which is better here again comes down to your own personal needs.

I've been compiling comparison charts in another thread, if you would like to see how other models stack up against each other:

I would love to have those to either play with or use as parts. Trouble is I have zero room. Bad enough my 806 pair is in my apartment in my comp room plus I have a friend that wants to give me a DR Monitor Top free that runs but needs a leak fixed and a recharge. Just no where to put it. My family all moved to Clinton years ago but I dont dare ask sis if I can store them there cuz we dont blend well. Plus the field mice that get in her garage would ruin them.

John,

Sounds like we have a couple of things in common.
I have no more room for anything.
I also have a "blending" problem with a sibling...in my case, a brother.
And, it's a car that I have to get off of my parents' property. He's threatened more than once to have it hauled away for scrap.
It would be cool if someone here was able to rescue this set though!

Well, a lot of Maytags showing up here then quickly disappearing surely is telling you now in these times when it’s hard to get a repairman or although demand has never been more quintessential the availability has gone down to inessential or simply not enough to go around to each needed job...

this is the same quality back when there were repair portals a-plenty but you bought a Maytag because you NEVER ever wanted to see a repair...!
