Too bad it's on the East Coast.....

Because I would LOVE to have this!!! If I did opt to bid and did win it, it would be one EXPENSIVE twin tub as he estimates shipping to be $150!

I have never saw a twin tub with two impellers before.
Do they both turn the same way at the same time?

Brian ... they sure do; at 400 rpm's, no less! The spinner is 2000 rpm's; very powerful.

These little machines are great. The impellers have their own motor; so does the spinner.

It's very "interactive"; moving clothes from the wash tub to the spinner and draining the wash tub and refilling for a rinse.

Lots 'o fun ...

Just For The Record

These units can be shipped via UPS, but should be carefully and well crated.

My Hoover TT came from the mid-west, but seller did a top notch job of packing and crating and the thing arrived via UPS without any major damage.

While Maytag units are slightly more complicated inside than Hoover's, still very simple design, with not much to go wrong if moved about allot during shipping. Biggest concern would be cosmetic damage and or knobs and such going missing.

While Hoover twin tub parts are rare, they still can be found. Maytag stuff seems VERY rare on the other hand.

Twin tub washing is basically a variation of wringer washing, except one spins water out of laundry instead of wringing. Very interactive and fun. You can also plow though tons of wash very quickly using little water.

Looks just mine. I agree, L, about the difficulty in finding parts. I've horded away belts for both the A50 and the DE50 although I did use a set on my latest DE50 that I posted awhile back. I enjoy the almost insane spin speed on the extractor. Clothes come out just as dry as they do out of my Neptune washer.

Thumper?

Just curious if any of the A50 you guys have "thump" when the agitation is going. It looks like mine has loose dowel pins or loose shaft holes on the impeller drive pulleys, they move a lot and create a thump-thump noise while washing. Louder depending on how loaded the machine is. Just curious.

Hey I have one of these that is in great shape and just wondering what I should do with it? Sell it keep it or what. It even has the manual with it. From my Mother-in-law who kept everything!!

If It Works & You Have Room

Why not keep and use the machine?

Own a Miele front loader, and still find use for my Hoover twin tub washer/extractor.

Twin tub washing machines are great at getting through lots of laundry very quickly, and using less water if one does the thing right, than a top loader.

I like to do curtains and other items which require deep immersion in water. These machines are also good for soaking laundry, and washing items you don't wish to put into your regular washing machine, such as mop heads or dust mops.
